Each Teipen (pronounced typin) briar pipe is hand carved with care by me, Wayne Teipen, from the highest quality materials available.  I hand carve my pipe stems from German ebonite, cumberland, lucite, or absylux rod stock.  Each pipe also comes with a quality handcrafted pipe sock made by me.

Commissions: I am no longer accepting any more pipe commission requests at this time.  I thank everyone for the overwhelming response.  I have thoroughly enjoyed working with folks to bring their visions to life and each one has challenged me and pushed me to vastly improve my pipemaking skills.  After the current commission projects are done I plan on concentrating on making pipes to post on my website.  Perhaps, when my children are older and I have more time on my hands I will once again accept commission work.  Thank you again to all those who I have had the pleasure with which to work.

On Flaws: Even the highest quality briar wood will most likely have flaws.  Flawless briar pipes are oftentimes elusive even to the most skilled artisan.  That being said, I believe that honesty is always the best policy, especially when it comes to flaws.  As such, I strive to represent my work on this site accurately.

On Pre-carbon Coating: I don’t routinely coat my tobacco chambers, preferring the raw briar.  I provide pictures of the bare tobacco chamber with each pipe.  If you prefer your tobacco chambers precoated, I can do so at no additional charge upon request.  I use all natural ingredients.

Satisfaction Guarantee: If you’re not happy, I’m not happy!  If you are not 100% satisfied with your Teipen Handmade Briar pipe, you may return it unsmoked and in the condition you received it for a full refund including shipping & handling.  Every Teipen Handmade Briar pipe comes with a lifetime guarantee to be free of craftsmanship flaws.  This does not include normal wear and tear, accidental damage, damage due to negligence or misuse, or burnout.  If it is determined that your pipe has a craftsmanship flaw, I will either repair your pipe for free or provide a full refund.
